C is for Caterpillar

The letter of the week is C. We did a simple craft sticking pom-poms on the Letter C and the caterpillar.

Things you need for this activity:
  • Pom-poms
  • Double sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Marker to draw the outline of the Letter C and the picture of a caterpillar
We used double-sided tape to stick the pom-poms to the paper. Luke practiced his fine motor skill by using the scissors to cut the double-sided tape and removing the backing of the tape. He didn't really enjoy this activity and kept asking me to let him watch TV.

When Matt returned from school that day, he saw the completed craft hanging at the window and he said "Mummy, you did Letter C with Lukie today? I want to do it too!". So I promised him that we would do some Letter C craft together later in the day.

Things you need for this activity:
  • Scissors
  • Construction Paper
  • Marker to draw the outline of the Letter C

I decided to keep it simple by drawing the outline of the Letter C on a piece of construction paper and inviting the boys to cut it out with a pair of scissors. They were both very interested in this simple activity. Luke still needs me to help to maneuver the paper while he holds the scissors to cut the paper. But he is definitely very proud when he cut out the letter C.

We also did an impromptu scavenger hunt for items beginning with the Letter C and put them in their toy wagon.
