Happy Chinese New Year to you! In keeping with our family tradition, we took a family photo on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
Matt was down with flu this New Year season and we had to bring him to see a doctor on the first day of the Chinese New Year. Thankfully, there was a clinic which was opened although we had to pay a little more than usual. Also, thankfully we managed to visit the boys' grandparents and great-grandparents despite Matt's flu. Ah... such is the life of parents with young children. They fall sick every now and then and it doesn't matter if it is new year or not. This year, I bought the boys' and my own new year clothes from the Chinatown in Singapore. It was a delight to find a good range of traditional Chinese clothing at a pretty affordable price. Around $15-20 for the children's clothes and around $40 for my Qipao. I believe the stores in Chinatown stock up on the traditional Chinese clothing during the period leading up to the Chinese New Year due to the increase in demand. I suppose, during the other times of the year, the demand for traditional Chinese clothing would come mostly from the tourists rather than the locals.
